I am so very ready for The Vampire Lestat – also known as Interview with the Vampire Season 3 – to be out already so that I can see the latest in Vampire Lestat’s new lifestyle as a rock star.

Interview with the Vampire is AMC’s crown jewel in Anne Rice’s Immortal Universe, and they are keeping the casting and production of its third season – The Vampire Lestat, under tight wraps.
For those of you unfamiliar, The Vampire Lestat adapts Anne Rice’s novel of the same name, and may even venture into Prince Lestat book territory from The Vampire Chronicles, if we are lucky. Lestat is in his rock star era, and will also be interviewed by Daniel Molloy as per the ending of IwtV season 2.
The teaser trailer we got eons ago basically gave us nothing except Lestat’s (inferred visual) disapproval of Daniel and Louis’ book, and the fledgling vampire Daniel being mentally put into a chokehold by the elder vampire Lestat. Although the sneak peek backstage we got shows some of Lestat’s concerts (and Jacob Anderson’s approval of Sam Reid’s 2-year long rehearsals for the show) it virtually gave us nothing storywise – which should actually be quite a doozy story and lore-wise for the show as far as we’re concerned.
Aside from the vampires around the world being pissed off at Louis for exposing their secrecy, Lestat’s singing accidentally awakens Queen Akasha, one half of “Those That Must Be Kept” while also bringing in lore concerning Marius, their immortal caretaker and Magnus – Lestat’s maker.
While I haven’t read Rice’s novels, I have been conducting research on Akasha, vampiric origins in Egypt, and its connection to Thoth, the Emerald Tablets, and Conan the Barbarian of all things.
So, Aaliyah’s Queen of the Damned – while poorly received despite her tragic death – is a film currently on my radar to watch before Lestat’s season of IwtV comes out. I am also wondering if he might make a guest appearance in Talamasca: The Secret Order, since I’ve heard rumors through the SDCC grapevine that Louis and Claudia make appearances, of course as well as Daniel Molloy – as he shows up in the trailer himself for the new series set to premiere this fall.
Pivoting to a Deadline article, the Gremlin Armand will return. Not sure if it will be simply through flashbacks of Lestat and his former lover Nikki, or if it will be present Gremlin shenanigans after he turned Daniel and seemingly got out of dodge in fear of Louis’ retribution for “harming” Daniel when he was instructed not to.
We also have “Gabrielle. Nicholas. Magnus. Marius. Those Who Must Be Kept.” mentioned alongside “Louis, Armand, Molloy, Sam, Raglan, Fareed…” in the article. If I am correct, Gabrielle should be Lestat’s long-suffered mother who was also given the dark gift by her son. Nicholas is Nikki, and I have already mentioned the rest earlier in this article. I believe Sam might be the Vampire Sam from the Theatre des Vampires in Paris (who is now a DJ according to Louis) and Raglan is a Talamasca agent.
I’m just not sure who Fareed is…unless it’s the doctor that treated Daniel in Louis’ Dubai penthouse in season one?
