Outlander Season 8 Theories: Is Claire’s Father Henry Beauchamp the Mystery Voice in the Trailer?

I watched the Outlander Season 8 trailer and now after finally finishing Blood of My Blood I have to wonder… was the person who called Claire ‘Mrs. Fraser’ at the end of the sequence her father?

Bridging Blood of My Blood and the Main Series Finale

Okay, So I’ve read speculation that the Outlander: Blood of My Blood team doesn’t want to “steal Diana’s thunder” for the Outlander series’ literary ending, but then again, according to the book plot: baby Faith is dead, Claire’s parents never survived the crash, and Jamie’s ghost watching Claire in episode one will be answered in the final novel.

(Although, I just picked up the first novel in the Outlander series and I believe page seven literally has Frank explaining Gaelic folk traditions, beliefs, and “Holy Days” where ghosts and spirits are permitted to travel between worlds. With this in mind, in the book so far (I am still on chapter one) it seems Jamie’s spirit was able to travel and meet Claire in her time because of Beltane, as opposed to Samhain in the show.)

I also know that showrunners tend to lie to their audience. After all, I remember reading an article that stated that Brian Fraser’s actor Jamie Roy had auditioned for a role in the original series. The casting directors kept him on the backburner for over a decade in anticipation of a speculative prequel they couldn’t possibly know about during season one of shooting.

Things like this tend to happen in the industry more often than not.

Book rights for film and TV adaptations being sold to the studios before the public even knows the book has been released. Or in the case with Outlander author Diana Gabaldon, telling actors like Sam Heughan how the series will end to subtly inform their direction for the role. If you’ll remember, George RR Martin did something similar for his characters’ actors, but I actually have faith that Diana will finish this final, untitled main series book.

Henry Beauchamp’s Time Travel Journey at Craigh na Dun

Anywho, back to my original post – during the season finale of BomB, Julia, Henry, and baby William are heading back to the Craigh na Dun stones as Mr. Bug, the Grant men, (and Lord Lovat…eventually) pursues them.

(Why Mr. Bug is still on the Grant payroll when both of his masters are dead, and Isaac’s brother presumably hasn’t taken over yet, is beyond me. He might just be cruel and sadistic “for the love of the game” as the kids nowadays say).

There is this memory montage of toddler Claire, and the moment Henry and Julia decide to go to Scotland on holiday. Apparently, there is also an easter egg on Claire’s birthday cake that had strawberries shaped in the formation of the standing stones, but the child actress kept eating the berries before the crew could get a shot.

As we know, especially in Outlander Season 7 after Roger finds his father, and Brianna her grandfather, that the stones can bring you backward (or forward) in time depending on your focused thoughts at that specific time.

The Unexpected Place: Where Does Henry Land in BomB Season 2?

We had Julia, William, and then Henry at the stones, with the flashback to toddler Claire, mixed with Henry’s own internal desire to get back to the future anyway to take care of Claire even after believing the Grant lie that Julia and William were dead, I would wager Henry will be transported to Claire by the stones.

After all, apparently BomB season two production has hinted that Henry winds up in an “unexpected place”, meaning that he is once again separated from Julia in some sort of past not congruent to their own, or the original timeline they actually came from.

Lore Decoded: The Seaside Song and Stone Mechanics

I would like to speculate that based on Blood of My Blood’s current storyline and Outlander Season 7’s inclusion of the Seaside Song (which was prominently sung and played as an instrumental in BomB) that Henry Beauchamp, Claire’s father, will find himself in the late 18th century timeline that his daughter resides in.

Tracking the “Beside the Seaside” Connection Across Timelines

Whether or not they are actually reunited remains a mystery, but I believe that Claire will meet someone from her past who also happens to be a long-lost relative. Based on this alone, the Seaside Song is an already established connection between Julia, Henry, and William in BomB and Claire and Fanny Pocock in Outlander Season 7 and Season 8.

The Beauchamp Bloodline: Master Raymond, Fergus, and Henry

(Especially since in the books, Master Raymond is supposed to have some sort of “surprise” for Claire, and Fergus is believed to be a ((distant)) relative of the Beauchamp bloodline through his mother, with Saint Germain as his father, and Master Raymond as some common ancestor to them all.)

Either way, I am extremely excited (and slightly sad) for the final season, but I’m glad we have BomB to fall back on after the main series of Outlander ends. But, tell me your thoughts – is it Claire’s father, Henry who addresses her as Mrs. Fraser in the preview, or someone else?

Will Frank’s book actually mean something to the plot aside from warning Jamie of another near-death experience that Claire will no doubt revive him from (with her white hair now that she is at her “full power” as the Native American prophecy stated)?
