Outlander Season 8 SDCC Teaser Trailer

Outlander Season 8 SDCC Teaser Trailer

The Final Season of Outlander is almost upon us and admittedly – I am afraid to let the series go.

Outlander Season 8 SDCC Teaser

The world Diana Gabaldon has created in her Outlander series is so rich with lore and historical accounts – I think even after the final season of Outlander ends, I will still be dissecting all of the mysteries found within the story.

I will also be reviewing the prequel series, Blood of My Blood, in a few days if anybody is interested. I am also doing some personal research on witches in ancient Scotland and those standing stones scattered throughout the UK, so look out for those articles as well if you’re interested in that sort of thing.

Now admittedly, I am not the biggest Frank Randall fan. I know that in the books, Frank is significantly older than Claire and had several mistresses (a mark of that time period’s relationships) whereas in the show, Frank only had Sandy but refused to actually leave Brianna and Claire out of jealousy of Jamie Fraser.

The Final Season will be focused on Frank’s book “The Soul of a Rebel” which Frank wrote before his death, and was published posthumously. I am guessing that Brianna grabbed the book while fleeing the Cameron’s and their goon squad in the present to meet up with Roger in the past.

Frank also left a letter apparently for his history buff daughter and joked that neither she nor Claire read any of his books. Which is surprising, especially since Roger is quite the Scottish historian via his father Reverand Wakefield and his extensive personal diaries and primary sources on the Jacobite era.

Anywho, the SDCC teaser trailer is “95% recap, 5% story” as I’ve heard some fans joke about online. It was footage of the meetings and unions between Claire and Jamie, Brianna and Roger, Ian and Rachel, Fergus and Marsali, and Jocasta and Murtagh.

Then the tagline of “Every sacrifice, every moment has led to this” as Jaime and Claire overlook Fraser’s Ridge in North Carolina and “The Final Season” appears on screen as Jaime and Claire agree to each other “one more time”.

We finally get into the new footage of Jamie sitting in bed with his reading spectacles on looking at Frank’s book while Claire lays there asleep beside him. Then we get a bunch of pensive glances and exchanges betwixt the main cast before Jamie ominously declares “war is coming to the backcountry”.

Apparently, Frank left clues in his book that history recorded James Fraser dying in a skirmish war around what seems to be North Carolina, and how to avoid his fate.

As of now, according to book readers both Jamie and Claire are still alive in the novels, and Diana Gabaldon has stated that neither character will die in her final book, which she is currently working on. I mean when you think about it, hasn’t James Fraser “died” every single season – and through Claire’s intervention (whether it be the spirit world, physical healing, or otherwise-) he magically survives and lives to joke about the tale over his contraband whisky?

So “Jaime dies in war” might be a big nothingburger again, as Jamie and Claire died in a “fire” and Tom Christie believed it to be true and reported it to the local newspaper. Brianna and Roger even traveled to the past to prevent it because they believed it to be true (and because Frank had the new article hidden in a shoe box like a creep).

Then Jamie supposedly died last season, and we all know how ridiculous that storyline was even while it was airing. So I’m completely positive Jamie won’t die in The Final Season, but we do need to see what happened regarding the baby Faith and Master Raymond storyline, and the official answer as to why Frank could see Jamie’s ghost in Inverness before Claire first went through the stones.

I mean Mrs. Fitzgibbons basically said it was because during Samhain the barrier between worlds was thinner, and Jamie said he would wander purgatory for 200 years until he met Claire again. But, I do want the author’s formal answer to these long-standing fandom mysteries.

But, tell me your thoughts: Do you actually think Jamie Fraser will die in Outlander The Final Season? What will be done with the Frances Pocock storyline?

Until next time ~
