Outlander: Blood of My Blood Looks Fantastic!
Let me just say, I will be the first to admit that I initially had no interest in Outlander: Blood of My Blood when it was first announced. After watching Henry and Julia Beauchamp’s teaser clip and watching Julia wake up at the Highland Craigh na Dun standing stones as her daughter Claire did, I am (now) completely sold.
Outlander: Blood of My Blood Trailer
Okay, so I watched 3 trailers in total: The Outlander: Blood of My Blood Official Trailer, Claire’s parents Henry and Julia Beauchamp Escape to the Scottish Highlands, and Jaime’s parents Brian Fraser and Ellen Mackenzie Meet in Secret clip and I absolutely now need more of each story.
Although I like Outlander, admittedly I had no real interest in Ellen Fraser or her portrait when Brianna and Roger traveled to Lallybroch in the early 1700s while in search of his father and essentially, each other.

So after season 7 finished airing when the prequel was announced – I kind of just shrugged and went “meh” to myself. As far as I knew, it just focused on Jaime’s parents, their love story, and how they get together before Ellen’s tragic death in childbirth while trying to deliver her fourth child, Robert – who ultimately ended up being stillborn.
Imagine my surprise when I found out that through Claire’s parents clip trailer that not only were they time travelers, Claire’s mother Julia went back in time to 1714 and met Ellen! From the official BoMB trailer, it seems like Julia actually helped Ellen and Brian get together – enabling Jaime to even be born and meet Claire – let alone birth Faith and Brianna!

I remember reading numerous times that the Outlander series creator and author Diana Gabaldon said that Claire’s parents were “ordinary people”, and not time travelers. But then again, I’ve heard rumors that Gabaldon is working on a prequel book in nature similar to the Blood of My Blood series, and she would have to had been consulted on the characters from her novels, right?
Anyway, from what I can recall – the novels came to Gabaldon supposedly based on Claire’s recollection of the events and her love story with Jaime. Based on what I am reading on forums (from SDCC news), the car crash the Beauchamp’s got in during the BoMB trailer is the one that supposedly killed them in the book timeline.
So, the time traveling stint takes place afterward, while Claire is still a young girl with her uncle Lamb on one of his archeology expeditions. I wonder if the Beauchamp’s end up getting baby Faith from Master Raymond in the past and ended up raising her in lieu of Claire and Jaime until it was time for them to leave?
Otherwise, I don’t see why they would abandon Faith and then ultimately, her two children (and their great-great-grandchildren) and leave them destitute unless something really bad happened that prevented them from raising their family. Because as it stands right now, the Beauchamps have pulled a Jerry Mackenzie and simply gotten lost in time.

And just like Roger, because there was no trace of her parents left everybody just assumed Claire’s parents had passed away. Especially since it appears to be wartime again, as it was when Jerry initially went “missing”.
Either way, I am excited to start watching the new series Outlander: Blood of My Blood in a week or so from now on August 8th. I am now watching to try and solve lingering Outlander mysteries that I have in my head, and because I greatly miss early 1700s Scotland.
But, tell me your thoughts: What do you think about the revelation that Julia Moriston and Henry Beauchamp might have been time travelers?

Do you think they are the ones who Master Raymond gave Faith to in order to raise the child in lieu of Claire and Jaime in the main series?
