Sealed With A Kiss – Outlander: Blood of My Blood Ep 2 Review
I know we’ve been told multiple times in Outlander that the Highlands are rough, but I think this is the first time it’s been properly exemplified. Julia just asked for directions in broad daylight and got sacked, bludgeoned, kidnapped, and sold into slavery to a sleezy lord that tries to assault her every single time she’s alone.
Also, when on earth did Henry go through the stones? He had no gemstones to lose (unless in his pocket watch?) and the transition was so smooth I hardly noticed until he got toward the ale house. Although, the “SWAK” rock should have been a clue. If it were carved in his time, it’d be under dirt or a thick layer of moss right now.
Outlander: Blood of My Blood Episode 2 Review
I honestly did not expect to be so invested in Julia and Henry’s love story. Especially since now after reading theories online, I saw speculation that claims Fanny could have remembered “the seaside song” because Julia sang it to her, not Claire via baby Faith. Which adds another wild dimension to the Pocock sister’s appearance and deviated show-only storyline in Outlander Season 7 – especially since “the seaside song” was apparently playing during Henry and Julia’s letter exchange montage this episode.
This prequel series has opened up so many possibilities for Outlander’s Final Season and I am here for it. What I am not here for, however, is Lord Lovat being an absolute creep.

How did he have a son as sweet as Brian? He reminds me so much of Jamie, and I remember reading that Jamie Roy originally auditioned to play Jamie Fraser, and Harriet Slater his daughter, Brianna MacKenzie.
I’m not familiar with this aspect of the lore, but did Lord Lovat have no true born sons that his bastard born son Brian is his heir presumptive? I also feel like it’s the pot calling the kettle black that Lord Lovat is trying his best to sleep with his new “kitchen wench” Julia, and Red Jacob passed away while humping a servant girl, according to Jocasta last episode.
Both men also are not well liked within their Highland community or the clans – so how these two were enemies is beyond me. The worst of it is, Lord Lovat doesn’t even know who set him up! It could have been the Grants or the Campbell’s for all he knows, but his stubborn Highland pride won’t let him consider anybody else but the late Laird MacKenzie simply because he had it out for the guy.

Not to mention, the Grant’s appear more “civilized” than the Frasers and have a nicer, more modern (for that era, at least) home but they seem just as brutal as the other Highland lords! Laird Isaac Grant mounted his last adviser’s head on a stake, and no doubt that’s making Henry’s PTSD even worse.
Then we have Julia Beauchamp being beaten for getting caught running away and if Brian didn’t take the lashings for her (like Jamie did with Laoghaire) I bet she would have miscarried her child. Although, I don’t think the hard labor she’s doing now with medieval housework when she was just opening and blotting letters before isn’t helping the stress on her body, either.

I don’t know how he’ll pull it off, but I hope Henry does find Julia soon. I really didn’t expect to be more invested in their love story than Brian and Ellen’s, but then again, we know how the latter’s love story ends. Julia and Henry remain a mystery…a mystery that could pertain to the Pocock sisters, Baby Faith, and Outlander Season 8.
But, tell me your thoughts: which couple are you currently more invested in right now? Do you also find something nostalgic and romantic about war-torn lovers finding one another simply through answering a random letter by chance?
